Environment & Mobility

Acquisition of several green areas to perpetuate the commune’s green character and develop footpaths
Pond acquisition (Ulb/Vub, Geevaert)
Depollution of the Kwadebeek stream valley
Total end to the use of herbicides for the upkeep of public spaces
Creation of late-mowing zones to promote biodiversity
Start of the project to redevelop the cycle paths running through the commune (av.de la Forêt de Soignes, Chaussée de la Grande Espinette, etc.).
Construction of a modular, secure bicycle shed next to the station

Development of car-sharing, electric charging stations, bicycle rental…
Complete redevelopment of several avenues (Avenue de la Libération, Avenue Charles Graux, etc.), including drainage and double bicycle lanes.

Continued improvement in financial health of the commune
Permanent focus on the rules of good governance and the non-wasting of public funds
Communal taxes maintained at some of the lowest rates in Belgium

Acquiring strategic buildings that will be useful to the community in the long term
Virtually complete repayment of municipal debt.

More opportunities to meet and share between Rhodians through the continuation of numerous festive, sporting and cultural events, as well as the organization of participative meetings on major projects.
Systematic support for projects and associations that facilitate contacts between generations and between communities.

Inclusive playground on the Kwadeplas site
Modernization of communication tools (digitalization of documents, Facebook page, website, Be-Alert, etc.).

Ongoing support through the CPAS and associations such as La Vestiaire and l’Épicerie solidaire (ASBL) to debilitated Rhodians.
Creation of a community center where anyone, young or old, can come and share a convivial moment or ask for advice.
Purchase of an 8-apartment building to give working people on low incomes access to the rentam market at Rhode.

Solidarity and efficiency during the Covid and Ukrainian crises, which enabled us to support all those in difficulty in the municipality (the sick, host families, refugees, etc.) through the CPAS and numerous initiatives by volunteer Rhodians.
