{"id":1362,"date":"2024-10-04T11:00:44","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T09:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/1640.be\/how-do-i-vote-by-proxy\/"},"modified":"2024-10-04T11:01:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T09:01:57","slug":"how-do-i-vote-by-proxy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1640.be\/en\/how-do-i-vote-by-proxy\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I vote by proxy?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Voting in local elections is no longer compulsory in Flanders, but it&#8217;s <strong>essential <\/strong>in a democracy.\nIt&#8217;s also the best way to ensure that our commune is well managed on a day-to-day basis. <\/p>\n\n<p>If you can&#8217;t go to the polling station in person, you can always give a proxy, subject to certain conditions.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong><em>Who can I give my proxy to?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>To another Rhode elector to whom you will have to hand over certain documents.<\/p>\n\n<p>Please note: A voter can only receive one proxy.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong><em>When can I give a proxy and what documents do I need?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Here are the 3 most common cases:<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You cannot vote yourself for health reasons:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the A95 power of attorney form, which must be signed by both you and your proxy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach a certificate from your treating physician ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give these documents + your paper invitation to your proxy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You are abroad for professional or study reasons:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the A95 power of attorney form, which must be signed by both you and your proxy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach a certificate from your employer or the school management ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give these documents + your paper invitation to your proxy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You are abroad for other reasons <\/strong>(vacation, leisure):<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the A95 power of attorney form, which must be signed by both you and your proxy;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete form A96 and attach proof of your stay abroad (plane ticket, hotel reservation, etc.).\nPlease note: a declaration on your honor is no longer sufficient. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This A96 form must be signed by the Mayor or one of his representatives;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give all these documents + your paper invitation to your proxy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Armed with these documents and your own invitation, the person who has received a proxy from you must go to YOUR polling station.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-ecd28cc2-f728-47a8-9a92-e0407fa86a72\" href=\"https:\/\/1640.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/A95-procuration-FR.docx\">A95 proxy FR<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/1640.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/A95-procuration-FR.docx\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download=\"\" aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-ecd28cc2-f728-47a8-9a92-e0407fa86a72\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-dbff098b-4ed5-4104-9d21-a5bd48551a6b\" href=\"https:\/\/1640.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/A96-Procuration-attestation-seejour-temporaire-FR.docx\">A96 Power of attorney &#8211; temporary se\u011bjour certificate EN<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/1640.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/A96-Procuration-attestation-seejour-temporaire-FR.docx\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download=\"\" aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-dbff098b-4ed5-4104-9d21-a5bd48551a6b\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Voting in local elections is no longer compulsory in Flanders, but it&#8217;s essential in a democracy.
